CELEBRATING
LA NEIGHBORHOODS
In honor of City Of LA's Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration, we present you CELEBRATING LA NEIGHBORHOODS; a photo exhibit that pulls media from the VC Archives to show the cultural life of the city. Through the stories of Little Tokyo, Koreatown, Historic Filipinotown, Chinatown, and other vibrant communities, visitors are invited to explore how heritage, tradition, and everyday experience shape places of connection, belonging, and pride.

A sea of vibrant colors and rhythmic drums fills the streets of Koreatown in this archival image of a Korean cultural parade in Los Angeles. Community members dressed in traditional attire march in unison, waving banners and beating buk drums, while families gather curbside to witness the celebration. Events like these reflect the heart of LA’s Koreatown, a place where heritage, pride, and public expression come together in powerful displays. Date: 1988 Location: Koreatown, Los Angeles

Thank you to our friends at City of LA, for making this happen!
