Linda’s regenerative spirit continues to grace us since she became an ancestor 20 years ago. Her stories and works are ever-present in the VC Archives. Through photographs, audio recordings, and films, we feel her presence and hear her indelible laugh. Memories produce recollections of her past, effects of her current impact, and visions of the future.
This year’s Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival is dedicated to Linda’s legacy of generations of storytellers who empower our communities. During the Festival and through the next few months, we invite you to experience LINDA VISIONS through a photographic exhibition, a podcast series, and other presentations.
ABOUT LINDA MABALOT
Linda Mabalot was the beloved Executive Director of Visual Communications from the mid-’80s until her passing in 2003. She guided VC through a most difficult and challenging time when the organization was focused on survival and still committed to serving and continuing Asian Pacific American media projects. Linda’s resilience, political savvy, and commitment to multicultural collaboration served her and VC well. She was creative, spontaneous, and had a generously inclusive nature with an infectious laugh, which helped her staff confront the challenges and survive a difficult time. Today, the staff is still propelled by the vision and foresight brought to the organization by this widely admired, one-of-a-kind leader.
